Firmness & Feel
The Dreamcloud Classic has a medium to medium-firm feel. We bet most people will rate it a 6 or 6.5 on the 10-point mattress firmness scale, depending on their weight.
Construction & Design
Height- 14”. The Dreamcloud Classic has a 7-layer construction that gives it a 14-inch profile. Despite its height, the Dreamcloud Classic is a bed in a box, meaning it’s vacuum-packed and rolled into a box for shipping. The mattress takes 24-72 hours to inflate fully.
Its steel coil system and multi-layer design make this a relatively heavier mattress. The Dreamcloud Classic queen weighs 85 lbs, while the king-size model weighs 107 lbs. The mattress does not require to be flipped, though. And if anything, it has strong handles that you can use to move it around.
Cover- the Dreamcloud Classic has a soft-to-the-touch cashmere blend cover. This cover is quilted with 1.5” of soft foam for additional plushness. Its cloud-like pattern is meant to bring hotel luxury to your bedroom by being buttery soft, cozy, and breathable. The Dreamcloud Classic cover is not removable. It’s recommended to use bed sheets to protect the mattress from sweat, body oils, and bacteria growth.
Comfort Section- underneath the quilted cover is an inch of CertiPur-US certified gel-infused memory foam. As is the nature of memory foam, this layer reacts to your body heat and weight to mold around your body parts. What makes memory foam unique is its ability to hold every single weight to a certain point. That’s to say that certain parts of your body sink more than the rest. This is how it gets its pressure-relieving attributes.
A common complaint about memory foam is that it can be really hot to sleep on. Dreamcloud tries to minimize this issue by adding gel to its memory foam layer. Gel helps cool the mattress by promoting extra airflow and dissipating your body heat.
Transition Section- next is another two inches of Dynamic foam that acts as the transition layer. Being more responsive than the comfort layer above, this layer is crucial for ensuring that you sink in just right. The transition layer plus the quilted cover work together to eliminate the feeling of being trapped in the mattress. Another crucial role of the transition layer is to keep you off the coils.
Support Section- the support system comprises hundreds of 8.5” pocketed steel coils. This is the section to thank for the firmness, support, and bounce you get from the Dreamcloud Classic hybrid mattress. These coils are individually wrapped, meaning they don’t influence each other’s movements. This independence is necessary to offer the support you need across the body while asleep. The Dreamcloud Classic uses thicker coils around the perimeter for strong edge support. This solid edge support is vital for preventing sagging and protecting you from falls when you sleep along the edge.
Base Layer- at the bottom is an inch of stability layer made of CertiPur-US certified standard foam. This layer provides support to the individually wrapped coils. It also acts as an “energy sink” by absorbing energy from the coils for reduced motion transfer.
So, what does this construction mean? The plush cashmere blend cover, gel-infused comfort layer, and individually wrapped coils combine to give this mattress an incredible mix of contouring and support. And thanks to this blend, the Dreamcloud Classic is a versatile mattress for various body types.
The Dreamcloud Classic also offers a significantly cooler sleeping experience despite using multiple layers of foam. Regarding durability, we expect the Dreamcloud Classic to outlast most standard mattresses owing to its design and choice of materials.
Note that the Dreamcloud Classic requires deep pocket sheets due to its height. Standard fitted sheets won’t fit properly.
